In earlier classes we have studied about Water Cycle , etc. In water Cycle we studied that how is the journey of water carried out from one step to other till the end.

Like that in Project Cycle we are going to deal with the steps involved in creating a project , starting from the given problem till the project is created and tested.

Project Cycle is a step by step process to solve the problems using proven scientific methods and drawing the inference about it.

Problem Scoping refers to understanding a problem finding out various factors which affect the problem, define the goal or aim of the project.

4Ws Of Problem Scoping

The 4W's of Problem Scoping are Who, What, Where and Why. These Ws helps in identifying and understanding the problem in a better and efficient manner.

1. Who - "Who" part helps us in comprehending and categorizing who all are affected directly and indirectly with the problem and who are called the Stake Holders

2. What - "What" part helps us in understanding and identifying the nature of the problem and under this block, you also gather evidence to prove that the problem you have selected actually exists .

3. Where - "Where" does the problem arises, situation and the location.

4. Why - "Why" is the given problem worth solving.

Theme: Moving Things, People and Ideas Unit III: Motion, Force and Work Motion:  Distance and displacement, velocity; uniform and non-uniform motion along a straight line; acceleration, distance-time and velocity-time graphs for uniform motion and uniformly accelerated motion, derivation of equations of motion by graphical method; elementary idea of uniform circular motion. Force and Newton’s laws:  Force and Motion, Newton’s Laws of Motion, Action and Reaction forces, Inertia of a body, Inertia and mass, Momentum, Force and Acceleration. Elementary idea of conservation of Momentum. Gravitation:  Gravitation; Universal Law of Gravitation, Force of Gravitation of the earth (gravity), Acceleration due to Gravity; Mass and Weight; Free fall. Floatation:  Thrust and Pressure. Archimedes’ Principle; Buoyancy. Work, energy and power:  Work done by a Force, Energy, power; Kinetic and Potential energy; Law of conservation of energy. Sound:  Nature of sound and its propagation in various media, speed of sound, range of hearing in humans; ultrasound; reflection of sound; echo.

A case study is an appropriate research design when you want to gain concrete, contextual, in-depth knowledge about a specific real-world subject. It allows you to explore the key characteristics, meanings, and implications of the case.

Case studies are often a good choice in a thesis or dissertation . They keep your project focused and manageable when you don’t have the time or resources to do large-scale research.

You might use just one complex case study where you explore a single subject in depth, or conduct multiple case studies to compare and illuminate different aspects of your research problem.

Once you have developed your problem statement and research questions , you should be ready to choose the specific case that you want to focus on. A good case study should have the potential to:

  • Provide new or unexpected insights into the subject
  • Challenge or complicate existing assumptions and theories
  • Propose practical courses of action to resolve a problem
  • Open up new directions for future research

TipIf your research is more practical in nature and aims to simultaneously investigate an issue as you solve it, consider conducting action research instead.

Unlike quantitative or experimental research , a strong case study does not require a random or representative sample. In fact, case studies often deliberately focus on unusual, neglected, or outlying cases which may shed new light on the research problem.

Example of an outlying case studyIn the 1960s the town of Roseto, Pennsylvania was discovered to have extremely low rates of heart disease compared to the US average. It became an important case study for understanding previously neglected causes of heart disease.

However, you can also choose a more common or representative case to exemplify a particular category, experience or phenomenon.

Example of a representative case studyIn the 1920s, two sociologists used Muncie, Indiana as a case study of a typical American city that supposedly exemplified the changing culture of the US at the time.

While case studies focus more on concrete details than general theories, they should usually have some connection with theory in the field. This way the case study is not just an isolated description, but is integrated into existing knowledge about the topic. It might aim to:

  • Exemplify a theory by showing how it explains the case under investigation
  • Expand on a theory by uncovering new concepts and ideas that need to be incorporated
  • Challenge a theory by exploring an outlier case that doesn’t fit with established assumptions

To ensure that your analysis of the case has a solid academic grounding, you should conduct a literature review of sources related to the topic and develop a theoretical framework . This means identifying key concepts and theories to guide your analysis and interpretation.

There are many different research methods you can use to collect data on your subject. Case studies tend to focus on qualitative data using methods such as interviews , observations , and analysis of primary and secondary sources (e.g., newspaper articles, photographs, official records). Sometimes a case study will also collect quantitative data.

Example of a mixed methods case studyFor a case study of a wind farm development in a rural area, you could collect quantitative data on employment rates and business revenue, collect qualitative data on local people’s perceptions and experiences, and analyze local and national media coverage of the development.

The aim is to gain as thorough an understanding as possible of the case and its context.

Others are written in a more narrative style, aiming to explore the case from various angles and analyze its meanings and implications (for example, by using textual analysis or discourse analysis ).

In all cases, though, make sure to give contextual details about the case, connect it back to the literature and theory, and discuss how it fits into wider patterns or debates.

Introduction – A brief History of COVID 19

Coronavirus actually belongs to the Coronaviridae family. It represents crown-like spikes on the outer surface of the virus, therefore, it was named as coronavirus. This virus is minute in size and causes the acute respiratory syndrome. These viruses were thought to infect only animals until the world witnessed a severe outbreak caused by SARS in Guangdong, China.

At the end of 2019, Wuhan- a fast-emerging business hub of China experienced an outbreak of coronavirus, killing more than 1800 and infected our 70 thousand individuals in just a span of 50 days. Health officials are still tracing the exact source of this new coronavirus, early findings (hypothesis) thought it may be linked to s seafood market in Wuhan. However, the first reported case came on 1st December, which had no link to the seafood market. Therefore, investigations are going on to find the exact reason for the originating and spread of COVID-19.

In 2003, an outbreak of SARS stands for the severe acute respiratory syndrome. An outbreak of SARS started in China and spread to other countries before ending in 2004. Coronavirus also known as COVID-19 seems to spread faster than the 2003 SARS and also may cause severe illness.

The International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses named the virus as SARS- CoV 19 and the disease COVID-19.

Mention the causes and symptoms:

Coronavirus typically affect the respiratory tracts of birds and mammals including humans. Doctors associate them with common cold, Bronchitis, Pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome.

The main way the disease spreads is through respiratory droplets expelled by someone who is coughing. The risk of catching COVID-19 from someone with no symptoms at all is very low.

However, many people with COVID-19 experience only mild symptoms. This is particularly true at the early stages of the disease. It is therefore possible to catch COVID-19 from someone who has, for example, just a mild cough and does not feel ill.

Common Symptoms

Researchers in China found that the most common symptoms among people who had COVID-19 include:

Loss of appetite

Shortness of breath and Mucus.

However, these symptoms usually begin 2 to 14 days after you come into contact with the virus.

There may be other symptoms as well such as sore throat, headache vomiting etc.

If you have any of these symptoms then

i) isolate yourself.

ii) stay away from others as much as possible.

iii) stay in a closed room and use a separate soap, towel, clothes, handkerchief and if possible toilet and bathroom.

If you are below 10 years of age or above 50 years of age with diabetes, blood pressure, weakness etc., then you are at a high risk of complications.

Therefore, immediately call your doctor and seek immediate medical help.

Whenever we begin a new project, we encounter a number of challenges. In fact, we are surrounded with issues! These issues might be minor or major; sometimes we overlook them, and other times we require immediate attention.

To understand a problem, determine the different aspects that affect the problem, and define the project’s goal are problem scoping.

How to Identify the Problem Scoping in AI Project

Follow the following steps to identify the problem scoping from the project –

  • Understand why the project was started.
  • Define the project’s primary objectives.
  • Outline the project’s work statement.
  • Determine the most important goals.
  • Choose important milestones.
  • Determine the major constraints.
  • Make a list of scope exclusions.

The 4 W’s of Problem Scoping are Who, What, Where, and Why. This 4 W’s helps to identify and understand the problem in a better manner.

a. Who – The “Who” element helps us to understand and categorize who is directly and indirectly affected by the problem, and who are known as Stakeholders.

b. What – The “What” section aids us in analyzing and recognizing the nature of the problem, and you may also gather evidence to establish that the problem you’ve chosen exists under this block.

c. Where – What is the situation, and where does the problem arise.

d. Why – Refers to why we need to address the problem and what the advantages will be for the stakeholders once the problem is solved.

Statement of the Problem Template

After you’ve completed the above 4Ws, make a summary of what you’ve learned. The problem statement template is the name for this summary. This template summarizes all of the important points in one place. So, if the same problem comes again, this statement will make it much easier to fix.

Data Acquisition

The method of collecting correct and dependable data to work with is known as data acquisition. Data can be in the form of text, video, photos, audio, and so on, and it can be gathered from a variety of places such as websites, journals, and newspapers.

What is Data

Data is a representation of facts or instructions about an entity that can be processed or conveyed by a human or a machine, such as numbers, text, pictures, audio clips, videos, and so on.

There is two type of data –

  • Structured Data
  • Unstructured Data

a. Structured Data When data is in a standardized format, has a well-defined structure, follows a consistent order, and is easily accessible by humans and program. This data is in the form of numbers, characters, special characters etc.

b. Unstructured Data Unstructured data is information that doesn’t follow traditional data models and is therefore difficult to store and manage. Video, audio, and image files, as well as log files, are all examples of unstructured data.

Dataset is a collection of data in tabular format. Dataset contains numbers or values that are related to a specific subject. For example, students’ test scores in a class is a dataset.

The dataset is divided into two parts

a. Training dataset – Training dataset is a large dataset that teaches a machine learning model. Machine learning algorithms are trained to make judgments or perform a task through training datasets. Maximum part of the dataset comes under training data (Usually 80%)

b. Test dataset – Data that has been clearly identified for use in tests, usually of a computer program, is known as test data. 20% of data used in test data

Acquiring Data from Reliable Sources

There are six ways to collect data.

a. Surveys A research method for gathering data from a predetermined sample of respondents in order to get knowledge and insights into a variety of issues.

b. Cameras We can collect visual data with the help of cameras, this data is unstructured data that can be analyzed via Machine learning.

c. Web Scripting Web scribing is a technique for collecting structured data from the internet, such as news monitoring, market research, and price tracking.

d. Observation Some of the information we can gather through attentive observation and monitoring.
